WORSHIP TEAM
Music has always played an important role in the worship of God's people. Music, throughout scripture, is an integral part of honoring God. The purpose of the Music Ministry at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship, point people toward God, but above ALL things, to bring glory and honor to God. We are a church that purposely chooses to blend music from hymns, traditional gospel, contemporary, as well as praise and worship songs. The Music Ministry at Hagood expands outside of just worship services but presents music through Community events such as the Barnwell County Living Christmas Tree during the Christmas season and the Barnwell County Passion Play during the Easter season.

living christmas tree
Every “even” year on the calendar we present the Barnwell County Living Christmas Tree. It began as a vision in 1994 and it’s first presentation was in 1996. Its structure holds up to 72 singers. It is a structure 40 feet tall and 25 feet wide, decorated with greenery, ornaments, bows and thousands of lights. We sing a variety of songs while focusing on traditional Christmas songs, hymns, and choruses. The music is accompanied by skits (or plays) that have a central gospel theme. You are invited to come usher in the season with a very family focused event that both seniors and kids both will enjoy.
easter passion play
Every “even” year on the calendar we present the Barnwell County Passion Play. This vision began back in 1993. The very first play consisted of songs, narration, and a crucifixion scene … and that was all. As the years passed we have added something each year. Today you will see a 90 minute play that consists of Jesus’ Healings, Parables, New Testament scenes, the Lord’s Supper, The trial before Pilate, Crucifixion, Burial, Resurrection, Ascension, and heaven scene. It involves about 120 people, all members of Hagood, and is tied together throughout the play with music. Come see the Good News through this unique presentation.
